Gingerbread ROMs starting to bake, keyboard ported for rooted phone use

Gingerbread have started to cook up, thanks to the good fellows over at XDA. the developers insist that you only install these ROMs if you intend to help with the development process. Still, it's really nice to see the dev's churning out the ROM support for all of us to enjoy.
Also, the Gingerbread keyboard has been ported for rooted Android phones to enjoy. Some users have been reporting that there is no dictionary, so install at your own risk. same goes from rooting: it's at your own risk, not my fault, blah blah blah. Links to to the keyboard are via Engadget.
So i'd like to hear. Have any of you had the chance to help out the devs with a ROM? Any devs out there who can clarify what is and isnt working?

QWOP: The most infuriating game since the NES days.

In this game, the objective is rather simple. You are a track runner, and you must get the runner to move 100 meters. Sounds easy right?

Well here's the catch: You have to individually control the movement of the thighs and calves of the runner. It makes for a confusing, disorientating game that you show to all your friends to annoy them.

Personally, I couldn't get past 53 meters. At 50 meter's, there's a hurdle, and it flipped me over. Oh yeah, that's how you lose: if you fall. If your feeling brave, try the game out. Tell me how well you did in the comments.

Well, it seems a bit of luck has rained on you Slide owners. Thanks to nbetcher of XDA for the information.

It appears that after IEF (the main AlphaRev developer) lost a lot of his code is a clean, he is back to where he was! The code for an s-off may be released soon, with the next release of AlphaRev 1.6, and the exploit may be in the testing stages, but there is no conformation as of yet. Ill keep you updated.

The process for the exploit is also extremely complicated, as nbetcher commented. It would be nothing like the process for any other phone, so if you bricked your phone, well, thats your fault. Don't play with fire, unless you know you can get burned.

Oh, and to those who aren't aware, s-off is a permanent root for your Android phone, so even if you flashed an update designed to disable root, you can still flash a custom ROM.

Prosecutors dismiss Xbox-modding case mid-trial

Thanks to ArsTechnia for the story. Its definitely interesting. To those who have not heard, here is the situation. Matthew Crippen, the 28-year old man in the said trail, ran a small business from his home modifying the firmware on Xbox 360's to enable them to run pirated games (and homebrew games, but who talks about that?). This was apparently in violation of the DMCA, since it circumvents the measures designed to protect the copyrighted material. There was even a video of an undercover ESA agent paying him $60 to mod an Xbox 360 and even shows him playing a pirated game to prove it works. The case was dismissed when the prosecutor, Allen Chiu, claimed the government made errors in their prosecutions. The full story is in the link.
